1. Wrap Dress
The wrap dress is a staple in anyone’s wardrobe curvy or thin. The flattering wrap around tie on a wrap dress gives the illusion of a flatter stomach and accentuates curves. Whether you choose to embrace the floral trend or go monochromatic a wrap dress can be dressed up or down to fit almost any occasion. One downside to the wrap dress is many of them have a lower cut torso, for bigger chested girls especially this could be uncomfortable or inappropriate in some situations. I recommend getting a straight across bodysuit tank like the one here if you are worried about this.
2. Off the Shoulder Dress
The off the shoulder trend has been going strong in 2018. This cute style has been around for the past few years and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. This trend is often paired with bright colors and large floral prints for a fun, summery feel.
3. Shirt Dresses
The shirt dress trend has been everywhere this season. This is one of my favorite trends because you can dress these up or down. This trend can be appropriate for work or for a day out with friends. This trend comes in all shapes and sizes that can be flattering on every body shape. This style is often paired with the popular pinstripe trend that has been prevalent in summer 2017 and 2018.
4. Oversized Dresses
This trend is similar to the t-shirt dress trend, the difference is while the t-shirt dress trend can be made form fitting. This trend can feature short sleeve, tank top or long sleeve dresses with the defining feature being the ‘boyfriend’s shirt’ look. If you’re worried about being swallowed by this trend, try cinching the waist with a cute belt or tie for a little added shape. Here is a great Dresslink article with tips on how to wear oversized dresses!
5. Lightweight patterned dresses
Summer 2018 has been full of large floral prints and flowy fabrics. These lightweight dresses are often maxi dresses perfect for a day at the beach. These dresses come in a variety of colors and prints that can fit with any girl’s sense of style. You can see me trying this trend on my Instagram.
Summer is the perfect time to play with fashion and try new styles. The key to rocking any look is confidence. If you’ve been wanting to try a trend but are worried it wont work for you remember to pair it with a smile and keep your head held high and you’ll be ready to rock the summer months in style.
